[Secondary Pb]Secondary Lead Smelter Profits Remain Flat

Profits for secondary lead smelters held stable this week because of limited change in secondary lead price and quiet trades, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 12 (SMM) – Profits for secondary lead smelters held stable this week because of limited change in secondary lead price and quiet trades, SMM learned.

Secondary lead prices remained at 12,600-12,800 yuan per tonne (tax included), with average price down 10 yuan to 12,715 yuan per tonne. Wait-and-see posture overshadowed the market, leaving trades muted.

Average price for scrap automotive batteries (white shell) and motive batteries dropped 5 yuan per tonne, reducing smelting cost by about 7.6-8.4 yuan per tonne.

Some smelters in Shandong and Anhui halted production heading into June due to thinner profits versus April or May and fewer workers during busy season.
